Quartermaster’s log day 14, 16th June 2014
Thrilling news from our fellow pirates in Key West today!!! The Argo and her crew will officially be taking part in the annual Pirates in Paradise festival this year.
I got a call this afternoon from the lead festival organizer and she was thrilled at the prospect of us joining the fleet of the Conch Republic. Truth be told, I’m equally excited about it and I think it’ll be a big asset to both parties, not to mention the fun we’ll all be having.
Why’s this so important for us??? Well, in addition to the fun of getting to live out a life-long dream of being a pirate, being endorsed by an official festival adds a bit more respectability to our project. I also feel like our participation will be a boon to the festival, adding to their already impressive lineup of events and giving them more footage to work with on their website and promotional videos.
We just opened the lines of communication today so no word yet on what our role will be but I should have more news on that front by weeks end.
My initial thought was of doing a mock naval battle but our 26-foot sailboat won’t offer much more than a hearty belly laugh when put next to the 74 foot Topsail Schooner Wolf. Though perhaps they have a better match for us elsewhere in the fleet.
Well, now that the big news is out of the way, I want to take a moment to apologize. I wasn’t able to finish the embossing video this evening. Sorry everyone, I know I said I’d have it up for you today but we got busy planning some of the more important aspects of our trip and I just didn’t get it done in time. I did however take a moment to try out the process and get a better understanding of how it works. I should have that finished tomorrow and ready to go, so please be patient for just a little while longer.
We did receive the notebooks we’ll be using as our official log books today and they are exceptional. I’m really pleased with what we chose here and I think the lucky two who get these will really be pleased with the level of care taken and the extent of the planning we did on picking them out.
I also got some more work done on the audio/video budget today. I think I’m just about finished with the baseline budget now so that should be ready to be posted in full in the next few days. I’ve been taking extra time with it to ensure I have everything we need covered so there won’t be any hiccups or surprises along the way.
I was shocked to find that most lighting solutions cost as much if not more than the cameras. Not to worry though, I took my time doing the research and I think I found something at an affordable price but still of the quality we need to make a really top-notch film.
Well my friends, as always I wish you well and hope you enjoy today’s quote.
